IMPROMPTU MUSIC'S SECOND ANNUAL CONCERT ON SEPTEMBER 6, 2018 WILL RAISE FUNDS TO SUPPORT WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP

The second annual concert by New York City's Impromptu Music will focus this year on women's leadership. The concert will take place on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (3 West 65th Street at Central Park West). All proceeds from the concert will go to the Sadie Nash Leadership Project, which promotes leadership and activism among young women.

The repertoire at the free concert will feature works written for women or by women. The music will span from the twelfth century to the twenty-first, with works by Hildegarde von Bingen and Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw as well as an all-women's performance of Vivaldi's Gloria, originally written for an all-girls' school and orphanage.

The concert's organizers are Jolle Greenleaf, Madeline Healey, K. Aleah Papes, Elisa Sutherland, and Pamela Terry. The ensemble of singers and instrumentalists will be led from the violin by Juilliard faculty member Cynthia Roberts, and will feature some of New York City's top early music performers.

Sadie Nash Leadership Project, founded in 2001, offers programs designed to strengthen, empower, and equip young women and gender expansive youth as agents for change in their lives and in the world and to increase their participation in social, political, and economic decision-making.

The concert is free and accessible to the public, and audience members may support the event by donating what they wish through Impromptu Music's website, impromptumusic.nyc, or at the door. Last year's concert, held at St. Michael's Church on the Upper West Side, was attended by 350 people and raised more than $12,000.
