For their first presentation of the 2017-18 season, pre-eminent New York-based early music ensemble TENET revisits its celebrated program “UNO+ONE: Italia Nostra,” performing repertoire from the widely-acclaimed 2013 album of the same name. With two evening performances at the Upper East Side’s Fabbri Mansion / House of the Redeemer on Friday, October 20, 2017, TENET will also take the program to venues in Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Savannah and Tucson.

At the heart of UNO + ONE are canzonette, arie and scherzi by Monteverdi, a composer with whom TENET is indelibly associated due to their groundbreaking annual performances of the towering Vespers of 1610 which they inaugurated in the work’s 400th anniversary year of 2010. Now honoring Monteverdi’s 450th birth anniversary (b. 1567), TENET’s imaginative program, which also features contemporaneous Italian masters, reflects the group’s hallmark qualities of innovative programming, virtuosic singing, and a particular command of repertoire from the Renaissance and early Baroque eras. TENET’s sopranos Jolle Greenleaf and Molly Quinn, together with the crème de la crème of the New York’s early music instrumentalists, offer inspired and idiomatic performances, “rendered with crystal-clear precision” (Gramophone).
