Israeli pianist Inon Barnatan has built his superb disc of music focusing on dark and light around Thomas Ad s' mesmerizing "Darknesse Visible," which is based on a song by John Dowland. The recital includes Ravel's "Gaspard de la nuit" and "La valse," Debussy's "Suite bergamasque" and Ronald Stevenson's vivid "Fantasy on 'Peter Grimes' " (from Britten's opera). Barnatan, a pianist of enormous sensitivity and dynamism, brings richly expressive artistry to each piece.
